The Exigent Duality

I'm in the exact same boat in which Eric Peters finds himself: Costco has proclaimed that as of Monday, no one will be allowed in their stores without wearing a "Fear Mask", as the aforementioned Mr. Peters so aptly puts it. There is nothing in this universe which would persuade me to walk around in public like Michael Jackson, terrified of picking up germs-- I just won't do it. Goodbye, Costco!

On that note, I did my weekly shopping this morning at the neighborhood Hy-Vee, and probably seventy five percent of the people in the store were wearing Fear Masks. I even had a couple of employees stare me down as I brazenly acted like a human being without major psychological problems. I felt like I was walking on the set of a Hollywood zombie movie.

But enough of that. "Gears Tactics" came out yesterday, and I've played the first four missions. The game is ok so far-- it actually feels a little flat, and maybe a touch boring as a result. Hopefully the settings will become more varied, with more than just gray and brown. I do quite like the ability to change everyone's armor and the like: I made one of the non-main characters look like Randy Moss, complete with purple and gold armor.

The game also has the "female man-face" characters going on-- which, as we've finally figured out, is primarily designed so as not to upset the "trans community". Just because I'll never look like Fabio, and certainly wouldn't mind looking like Fabio, doesn't mean that it upsets me that game characters do look like Fabio: I just can't relate to the mindset. I'm not a terrible looking guy myself, but all the same and for aesthetic reasons I'd rather the characters look like Fabio, versus staring at an avatar of myself! Ditto with hot female characters-- bring on the babes.

As a result of wanting to play "Gears Tactics" I've once again found myself living in Windows 10, and it seems like it's getting buggier as time goes on.

As of the most recent Windows Update, all of my windows-- except for the Free Software "Libre Office Calc", hilariously-- are constantly opening up on my turned-off TV, instead of my "set as primary device" monitor. What's more, Microsoft broke the "hold shift, click on task bar item, select 'Move'" functionality, so I have to actually turn on my TV just to visually drag the windows back to my monitor half of the time, just to use a web browser! I have none of these issues in Manjaro Linux.

The Xbox "Series X" can't come soon enough: I need a dedicated system for games, just so I can avoid the Windows 10 monstrosity!
