Henrietta knows that in any kind of democratic system, politicians get elected by promising "free stuff"-- meanwhile, she also knows that "there is no such thing as a free lunch." So, I called her into my room when I saw this article in my news feeds today.

"Here", I explained to Henrietta, much to her amusement, "is a woman who is promising 'free' houses, college, and doctor visits."

The really entertaining part about this is just how basic it is: if I decided to run for the Minnesota legislature out of my Murderapolis district, and went around shouting into microphones at rallies about "patriarchy" and how if elected, I would give them free cars, free retirement, free air travel, free water, free electricity, and a guaranteed income of fifty thousand dollars per year-- absent any other facts or explanations-- there would be idiots out there who would vote for me.

I mean, why did humans spend so many millions of years struggling for survival in the wilderness-- didn't they know how easy reality is??
