Review
Pow! Crash! Bam! Taking you back to the classic comic book era, this one is a good throwback to a time when game's were more pure and simple. This Spiderman is one of the many alternate reality spiderman's where Peter Parker is best friends with Eddie Brock, who is classically known as Venom. In this reality, Peter and Eddie's fathers worked on a sort of "power suit" together, which turns out to be the parasite itself. Interestingly there's no mention that it comes from space. The backstory and plot is fairly basic but this game probably should've been named the Ultimate Venom-Man. Eddie gets Absorbed by Venom, Peter is known as spidey to Mary-Jane, and Silver Sable is the main antagonist. The gameplay is the atypical 2D platformer/webslinger style. You can sling from anywhere, climb walls, shoot webs, and beat up bad guys. The enemies have health bars, which technically makes this an action platformer brawler. There are also powerups hidden in most stages, which the game will tell you in advance if there is one. NICE TOUCH! This game has all the basics of a decent to good comic book game, but wait, there's more! I said earlier this should have been named "Ultimate Venom-Man" because this isn't simply a spiderman game, but also a venom game. Throughout the game, you will get control of Venom, who plays drastically different than Spiderman. Whereas Spiderman is a hotshot jumper flier hit fast and move type character, Venom plays like a walking tank. Venom's health bar is always draining, so he needs to constantly feed on enemies. Damaging enemies to lower their health and then eating them is Venom's style. Unlike Spiderman, Venom cannot free-swing from mid-air, but he can grab platforms with his tentacles. This makes him slightly less agile than spiderman, but in return every time he feeds on an enemy, he gets a health boost. This mechanic makes him practically immortal. Eventually these two characters come to a head and, big surprise, fight one final battle. There is a twist as well, but I won't spoil it. The game is pretty straight forward and has an adequate story for an alternate reality spiderman plot. The music is beat-worthy, but the GBA just can't handle some of the tracks. The graphics are suitable for a brawler of this era as well. One of the best parts is that enemies have health bars. Very nice touch game devs. All brawlers should be treated to that Quality of Life feature. No lives in this game which means you keep repeating levels until you win. The not-so-hidden powerups are permanent once you get them. You never have to re-get them even if you die. Interestingly as well, your web fluid doesn't reset when you die, but the web fluid icons do. That means you can purposefully die to restock your ammo. One of the truly unique things this game does is that enemies take fall damage, but you don't! Such a weird but welcoming mechanic. Diagonal Webslinging is allowed. Credits after the final boss.

All in All, This game deserves an 8.5 for it's hunger to feed off human flesh. The controls can sometimes feel a bit sticky to the ground/walls. The music isn't entirely crisp/clear. One Particular Level(Issue 6 Chapter 1) was an absolute pain to beat. Timed final levels.
