Shinobi III features some sharp, detailed artwork with clean aesthetics, good animation, colorful backdrops, and plenty of grit.

Since Yuzo Koshiro wasn't available at the time, a few other musicians did their best Koshiro-impersonation, and to great effect. Sound effects are also very good.

Arguably the most fun game in the series, Shinobi III has outstanding pacing, lots of variety in its level design, and a super tight control scheme with plenty of intricacies.

If you like action platformers, this is high on the list of the best-in-genre of all time. There are few games that are as fun, and replayability is at a maximum here.
