Review
Yet another Tony Hawk Pro Skater game. If my tone sounds sour, it's because it is. There are way too many of these damn clone games on the GBA, heck, on every system! This one is a straight up clone with 1:1 button inputs/layouts but with less options overall and somehow shittier mechanics. To start off, it's based off the nicktoons show "Rocket Power" which would normally fit right up the alley considering it was a cartoon about skateboarding and stuff. Sadly, the poor design of the game absolutely kills any concept that this is anything but a tony hawk clone. You get to choose between 5 characters, each with their strength and weakness. The kicker is that you have to upgrade the characters with money earned from each course in order to make them useful. Oh but get this, you can't even see what their maxed out stats are!!! That means you have a "rough" idea of what they're going to be good at in the start, and just have to hope that whatever their upgrades are, give enough of a boost to not weigh down your gameplay. I went with sam in my playthrough. His speed starts low and by the end his speed is still garbage, but his special is through the roof. I had no problem maintaining his special meter so I assume that's what it did. The gameplay is akin to the other tony hawk pro skater games, isometric grid-sorta world with a character always in the middle of the screen on a skateboard. This game wasn't designed as good as other tony hawk games though, which is hard for me to say because of how much hatred I have for the series at this point. For Starters, the controls are terrible. If you BARELY click left or right, the character almost does a complete 180 spin around. Trying to keep the character stable and straight is more of a herculean effort than actually completing the goals. Each area has a few set goals and a few variable ones. 3 Point Scores are always the first 3 goals, followed by a l-e-t-t-e-r collection. The other goals often require you to either jump something or unlock something. Pretty standard stuff for a tony hawk game. The music is more inclined to something you'd expect out of a nicktoons game. Slightly jammy is how I'd describe it. There are 8 levels total but this is a 100% game, meaning you need to 100% all levels in order to beat the game. There's no difficulty settings, no cheats or sick-crazy ways to do things... it's too basic for all that. Just a simple do or don't. What makes this game bad though is a three fold problem. 1) Turning is horrendous. 2) Hitting ANYTHING destroys your momentum completely. 3) The rails aren't aligned nor are they proper height. Jumping and grinding on rails was the worst part of the game since they are required in many sections. It's also impossible to unhook your character from a ramp without grinding. In normal tony hawk games you can usually just hold the jump button or A button or something to ride over it, not in this knockoff. Credits after you've beaten all the missions in the final stage.

Hot Tips: Use a ledge trick to balance-bar some easy fast special, then use your big special on that same ramp and ledge trick again to double the points. Massive Easy point win.
