This game is both short and long. That is to say, the game itself is roughly 10 missions, very short, and the objectives aren't too complicated. The LONG part comes in the later missions objectives. Early mission objectives are mostly "go here, kill that, get this" which is 1 step above a walking simulator, but the later missions are akin to "go find 15 of these things spread ALL OVER THE MAP". Worse off, this game doesn't have a map. Reign of Fire is "almost" like a topdown GTA clone in that you run around shooting things, mostly dragons, some humans, and can sometimes hijack a tractor or a gun jeep. The concept of this game is pretty cool, pretty sure it's based on a movie, but the big problem with this game is that the implementation was clearly bare minimum to satisfy a checkbox. The movement is slow and clunky, and there are unused buttons, no map, and jenky enemy AI and hitboxes. The cool thing about this game is how you control 1 leader character and all the other little company units follow you around. It's a novel concept but can't really shine due to the lack of innovation and application for the entirety of the rest of the game. The main story appears to be that you are a human resistance front, fighting against dragons and human raiders. Your job is to fight off the dragons and protect your castle. That means shooting the dragons with guns, lots and lots of guns. You also go around practicing abortions on eggs to prevent further dragons with guns. It's a cool concept idea, guys with guns vs dragons... but the game just doesn't stand up to it's concept.
All in All, This game deserves a solid 4.0 on the suckometer scoring card. It simply was not a good game, the movement was SLOW, the hitboxes were constantly an issue, and the objectives were tedious. The game could be worse, but it was clearly rushed and no care was put into it.
