This title features some of the worst artwork I have seen in some time. The disjointed, hodge-podge style popularized by Psychonauts has never been particularly beautiful, but this title takes that style to new lows. The combination of conflicting color schemes, unharmonious item placement and map layout, and some grotesque character designs make for an eye-bleeding experience.
The Disney-esque voice acting isn't bad, the sound effects are mundane and forgettable, and the soundtrack is one of the plainest and most unassuming I have ever encountered.
It's tough to put a finger on what specifically is wrong with this title's gameplay, because it doesn't do anything very well. The control scheme is carpal tunnel-inducing, the maps are just a series of unrelated scripted events thrown together, and the boss encounters are maddeningly dull and lengthy.
From the art style to the level design to the gameplay mechanics, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters looks and plays like a thrown together mess, a bombardment of poor art, lousy mini games, disjointed level design, and unsatisfying gunplay. Even the story, painfully Pixar-like, is enough to make one grimace.
