Review
Wakka Wakka Wakka Wakka Wakka Wakka. The Pac is Back! This time around he's heading to Ghost Island to save his friends from the 'infamous' Toc-Man. Pac-Man travels around several levels to find fruits, keys, and fighting off ghosts in order to rescue his allies. Pac-Dog, Pac-Baby, and even Mrs. Pac-Man are all in this game. The music is a bit crunchy, but the gameplay is a welcome relief from some of the games I've been playing lately. Akin to a semi-open world brawler, you control Pac-Man on a 2.5D plane that often devolves into a sideways crash-style run and jump off disappearing or moving platforms. Although I say it's 2.5D, the game often opens up into a quasi-3D pac-man-esc level with ghosts and pellets. It's odd but adds a bit of a charm in a sense. I don't believe this game is actually 3D, but it might be something more akin to 2.8D in that way. The goal of each level is to get to the coin at the end of each level. This is done by rolling, jumping, butt-pounding, swimming, and throwing explosive pac-pellets. Pac-Man can also grab the ledges as well, which was a nice quality of life feature. Each level has letters in it spelling out "PACMAN" for you to collect for the 100% completionists out there. There are various switches in each level as well that help pacman progress, get pellets, get fruits, letters, or 1-ups. Keys are also hidden, usually behind switches or fruit doors, throughout this game. Keys allow you to save your Pac-Allies which is kinda the purpose of the story. After rescuing all your allies you finally get to face off against the evil Toc-Man. He's basically like a giant metal Pac-Man. This is the only true boss fight in the game, but Namco did it due justice and made it actually pretty decent. Wakka Wakka. Truthfully, I'm not sure if I'm giving this game more credit because it came after the horrible experience of gauntlet, but I truly did enjoy this game. Level 3 gave me a bit of a headache, as well as the final level, but most of this game was reasonably balanced. A few times I ended up gaming over, but simply returning to an earlier level allowed me to stockpile some extra lives to throw away later. One tip I can give is that you actually NEED TO BEAT the level to keep the 1-ups. Save Often. It's a fun 5 hour game to just kick back and play around with. Saving only occurs after you beat a level, so make sure you have enough time to beat a level(30 minutes minimum).

All in All, a proper score of 8 for Pac-Man World is fitting. The game had some crunchy music, Some of the jumps just didn't work that well, and there was A LOT of backtracking. Still don't know what the letters "PACMAN" actually do.
