The "3d pixelization" effect from Darwinia is back in full-force and to great effect in this multiplayer-oriented followup. Like the aforementioned title, the stages are colorful, sharp, and polished.
There is even less music in this title than in Darwinia. As for sound effects, most of them were lifted straight from the previous title, which isn't a bad thing.
Introversion took the "Biosphere" level from Darwinia, made a whole game out of it, and called it Multiwinia. There are several game modes, like such as the familiar "King of the Hill" and "Assault" modes, all of which involve flooding specific areas with as many Darwinian units as possible.
The "Biosphere" level that this game is based on was much different than the rest of the gameplay featured in Darwinia, so it is somewhat surprising that Introversion chose that stage as the basis for a multiplayer-oriented followup. All the same, Multiwinia is a simple, fun, competetive, and accessible real-time strategy game.
