LittleBigPlanet's interesting cardboard-inspired visuals come across well on the PSP's small screen, and the engine itself comes over mostly intact too. The art is certainly on par with the work from the original, although the PSP GPU's inability to do anti-aliasing stands out moreso with this engine than versus some other titles on the platform.
Stephen Fry narration is back and, as in the PS3 version of the game, plays a prominent role in the title, for better or for worse. The soundtrack is of the same neutral disposition as the PS3 versions, not sticking its neck out to establish any character, but also not offending. All-in-all, the game is pleasant and soothing to the ears.
One of LittleBigPlanet PSP's major subtractions is the removal of one of the movement planes, and the game benefits for it. Unfortunately, the imprecise, floaty player physics are still in place, and the stages, while more inventive than those in the original, are significantly less fun to play. The level editor is in place and impressively features most of the functionality of the PS3 version's.
LittleBigPlanet PSP is an almost impossibly good adaptation of the PS3 original. Despite its impressive nature, the game is objectively inferior to the aforementioned PS3 title in every possible way, making for an experience that doesn't
seem to translate to a handheld as well as it could have, even though it's a very exact translation.
