Dragon Dragon, Rock the Dragon, Dragonball Z! To start, the music in this game isn't rock the dragon, but it is a memorable soundtrack from the original dbz tracklist. There are other remixes and original songs as well. The music is honestly the best part of this game. For those familiar with DBZ:TLOG1, this game is cut from the same cloth. It tells the events and storyline of the dbz saga from the androids saga to the end of the cell saga. In other words it picks up where TLOG1 ended. This game is far more enjoyable, imo, than the first game, but suffers the same problems. Necessary grinding on random animals like snakes, boars, and crocodiles. The fun feature of this game comes from seeing how well the story of DragonBallZ fits into a handheld game. There are a few hiccups in the story, but mostly it's accurate, and surprisingly well done with multiple character interactions. For example, you can bring goku to meet general tao, or you can bring the canonical gohan to meet him. The reactions will change based on the character you bring to meet him but they will all be spot-on accurate. This goes for most of the interactions in the game where you have a character choice. The game itself plays like a brawler-esc game where you run around punching enemies and they try to hit you back. Unfortunately they didn't fix the hitbox issue from TLOG1 so you can be 5 miles away and punching and get a successful hit. Alternatively, the enemy can also do the same, which causes a lot of headache from large groups of enemies comboing you to death. In this game you control Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks(Future), and Goku. There are slight differences between the characters, but you'll want to level them all up anyways because they are all used in fights throughout the game. As you kill enemies in this game, you'll get exp based on how strong the enemies were compared to your level. Each character has 5 stats as well. HP/Energy Attack/Power/Endurance. Piccolo has a higher power because he's better at blasts, and Trunks has a high Attack because he's an offensive character. Outside of these fluctuating stats, each character has a set of moves and abilities, as well as a "super" form. Interestingly enough, each character also has a hidden speed stat which determines how fast that move. Running is a double tap feature. There are also a few collectibles you can acquire throughout the game. 25 Golden Capsules are scattered around the world, and once you find all of them, you can access the world map anytime you want. Additionally there are 7 lost 'nameks' roaming around. Finding them allows a special boss fight against cooler. I could go on about some of the other stuff this game does but it's a pretty decent grindfest with a very distinct DBZ flavor. If you're a dbz fan, try it out to relive the saga that everyone seems to love. SUPER SAIYAN RAGE!!!
HOT TIPS: power-down when fighting Cell as Trunks or Vegeta.
All in All, this game powered up to an ascended review and scored an 8.1 on the rating scale. The downfalls of this game are mostly the hitboxes, the level grinding requirements, some very annoying fetch quests, input reading AI, and a few other things that just make this game a pretty annoying hassle at times. Despite how many faults this game owns, it still is a fairly fun game.
