OOOGGGGABOOOGGABOOOGGAAAAHHH!! That's the sound I imagine this game would make if it could speak. This is an SNES game ported to the GBA. Luckily or maybe Unluckily, I never played the snes aladdin game. The story of Aladdin is one where an arabian youth who is not bearded at all saves a future onlyfans model from being hard R'd by a bunch of rapey muslims in pakistan. This leads him down the road to find a magic teapot that summons smurfian will smith to grant his wish for fame to win his onlyfans lovergirl. There's also a Magus cosplayer that turns into a giant snake. This game roughly follows that story in a platforming environment. Much like Mario Bros, you can jump on enemies to knock them off/down. In fact, that's the only way to beat bosses too. You get apples to throw as well in this game but that only stuns enemies. You get so many, it makes me wonder why they included them? mechanics wise the game is fine, if not a bit sloppy and loose. Getting situated is always the hardest part of a new game, but this game has slip mechanics and a weird mechanic for "bouncing" off enemies. It's the standard hold A button, but feels just sort of off. You also use the R button in this port when you want to float(if you have the cloth sheet upgrade). You run through each stage trying to make it to the end while collecting jewels along the way. For every 100 gems you acquire, you get a life extension(+1 heart). There are a few other collectibles along the way as well, each level has 10 red gems which I have no idea what they actually do. There are also scarabs in a lot of stages that lead to end stage bonuses, and life extension hearts here and there. Most of these don't matter since there are plenty of death pits in this game. The save feature is a huge boon since it doesn't have any restrictions on it. The hitboxes can be a bit sketchy at times, and the controls might feel a bit hard to stick. The music is decent and the graphics fit well. Level designs can get quite a bit wacky in this game, especially when the genie is involved. Worth a play if you like platforms, it'll give you a little bit of a challenge.
All in All, an 8.5 for this port of an snes classic seemed pretty solid. The issues I mostly had with this game were the hitboxes and loose control of the character. Everything else was fairly manageable. Completionists will hate the magic carpet bonus stage.
