Dead or Alive 3 (Angel)
Genre: 3d Fighter
Developer: Team Ninja
Publisher: Tecmo

Graphics
These are the best graphics I have seen off the PC. The textures, the quality, everything. If you play the game, try unlocking Jann Lee's story mode ending. When you see it you will understand what I am talking about, not to mention all the backgrounds. Outstanding!

Sound
I really do not give a damn about the sound unless it grates on my nerves, which, in this game, it does not. Listening to it especially for this review, the music and sounds fit the story and the action of the game.

Gameplay
Now here's where I get critical. Let me just say that it is a fighting game, and a fighting game is a fighting game--not realistic. My sister teases me every time I walk into the room while she's playing it, "Now that's realistic isn't it?" I am sorry, but you cannot be thrown across a board with a punch. Where is Street Fighter gameplay when I need it?

Overall
Great game graphically and sound wise, but the gameplay tempts me to mash buttons and then punishes me for doing so. If you do not like fighting games like me, it is worth trying just for the sound and graphics.

Angel's verdict:

Dead or Alive 3 (Sniper)
Genre: 3d Fighter
Developer: Team Ninja
Publisher: Tecmo

Graphics
The best graphics in a game, PC or console, to date; ultra-high texture resolution, phenomenal player models, and heaping gobs of pixel/vertex shaded special effects to go along with ample bump-mapping goodness. The PS2/Gamecube combined couldn't render this game's jock-strap, much less the actual game.

Sound
The music is a nice blend of light techno, orchestra, and anime-esque tunes. All of the songs are appropriate for their usage, and some of them (such as Hayabusa's theme) are simply awesome. The sound effects are a mixed bag, and are generally forgettable.

Gameplay
Initially, the game doesn't seem quite as deep as Virtua Fighter or Tekken. That is, until you become accostomed to the super-deep counter system, and the open-ended arenas. This game is more about rhythm and skill rather than memorizing player moves/combos like other fighters.

Overall
The most addicting fighter I've played since One Must Fall: 2097, way back in 1994. Not many play modes and hardly any unlockable material could be the only drawbacks to an otherwise A+ grade fighter.
