Review
Movie Game. I never saw CTHD as we call it today, not to be confused with Chrono Trigger HD. This is a love story, or something like that, of a young women who has saiyan powers that can fly through the air and wields a magic sword. She wanted the sword because she didn't like the city... and instead of just moving to the countryside, she decided to steal an ancient relic lusted after by ninjas, thieves, and one really old guy. The gameplay itself is akin to something like castlevania or power rangers. Walk around, jump on platforms, and hit enemies to destroy them and take their flying glowing energy orbs. These orbs power up your kung fu meter which lets you unleash devastating attacks like chunli's hyperkick combo, the infamous simpson's whirling blades of doom, or link's greatspin attack. China isn't known for being inventive, which means this game pretty much just takes all it's inspiration from other gaming series. Yes, this is a Chinese developed, inspired, and created game. Shoutouts to Ding Yong. The level designs are actually pretty decent and the enemy placement isn't terribly spammed or too sparse either. This is not a hard game by any means, but one of the levels will definitely remind you of a certain super castlevania stage. The hard sell of this game is probably it's speed. Much like Power Rangers, there's no run option in this game and your character moves pitifully slow. To combat this, I spent most of my time doing dive kicks through the area to get through levels. There are 3 powerups you can collect in each stage: Green Dragons, A Single Sword, and Chicken. Yes, Castlevania Chicken makes it's return in the chinese empire. The Chicken heals your health, while the sword gives you a bonus extension on your attack until you are hit. The Green Dragons are a bit more interesting as they come in 2 forms, adding 1 or 5 to your green dragon total in the top right. When your total gets to 10, you get a 1-up. There are plenty of these things all around, so it's very easy to maxout your life count. The final boss in the game has a bit of a touhou theme going on with him, but wait, there's more! even after the final boss, you're subjected to quite possibly the worst level in the game. Throughout the game you're constantly introduced to odd mechanics that you have to life like wall jumping or water skipping. The final final level sets you off in one of the chase scenes, followed by a timer and a 2 screen gauntlet of enemies and mechanics that are horrible together. To put further emphasis on the big middle finger that is the final gauntlet, they introduce a new type of movement I dub as "slip movement". That is to say, it's slow to start, and slides to stop, making everything horribly more difficult. The water skipping is probably the worst mechanic in the game, and you have to do it multiple times in the final gauntlet. Aside from the pitfalls of the slowness and some bad mechanics, the game is highly playable and is recommended if you want to throw away a few hours on a castlevania/power rangers clone. Don't expect too much from the story, it's not that interesting.

All in All, I decided to give this game a 7.5 on the fun-o-meter. Slow movement and it's bad music dragged it down. The water skipping mechanic was terrible. kind of a 1-off 2 hour game at best, no replay value.
