Review
The second Crash game I'm playing on the GBA, mario kart! I mean crash kart! whatever. This is Diddy Kong Racing on the GBA. There are a few modes to choose from but Adventure mode is more or less where the meat is in this game. By completing tracks in Adventure mode you can unlock goodies in other modes as well, such as characters, tracks, and even cheats. It's a kart racing game, which means it's very light and prone to hitting walls, going off course, or straight up falling off the tracks. You have 2 choices in adventure mode, The Good Guys, or The Evil Guys. Personally I went with Team Evil on my playthrough. I mean hey, you never get to play Team Evil right? Whichever team you pick, you get to use the 3 members on that team. You're then treated to some storyline as to why you're suddenly racing against each other. Supposedly crash and cortex's houses were beamed into some sort of space circus. By getting the first place trophies, you get the privilege to face off against the giant green head's special warriors. Defeating them allows you to advance the worlds in the game and then eventually face off against the ring master himself. By beating him in a race, you get the closest thing this game has to an ending. The game itself handles decent enough for a kart racer but it was hard to tell because of the character I picked "Tiny". My character had very poor turning and I had tons of trouble turning, so I assume THAT was the reason why. The race tracks are varied and pretty well designed overall. 12 and one specialty track for the final boss. There's speed-up boosters in this game as well as weapon-boxes, pretty much identical to mario kart. The only place that actually matters in adventure mode is first. Luckily this game also has infinite retries. The music is forgettable but good. It's weird to say that but at this point, so many of the same soundtracks on the gba are respectively forgettable. There are some very light voice clips in this game too. One of the better or worse aspects of this game are the boss fights. Similar to diddy kong racing, before you beat a world you must fight it's boss in a race. This consists of a 1-on-1, 3 lap race with a super-powered enemy. They're all faster than you and constantly throw dynamite or bombs when they're ahead of you. Funny thing about the boss fights though, when you get completely screwed over the boss will literally slow down or straight up stop until you start catching up. It's like they're just mocking you. Slight rubber banding exists but not to such an extreme degree as mario kart. It's a fun pick up game. Apparently you can also connect this to the gamecube and a website that no longer exists?? Crash has always been a weird one.

Credits are in the main menu.

All in All, The score of 9 was well worth this game's enjoyment. Turning and controls can be a little bit hard often. Tight corners are a bit too tight. Enemy Boss AI are assholes. Nowhere to test/train skidding controls. No credits after final boss.
