The first legitimate rhythm game I rolled after that tragic cheetahgirls debacle. Britney's Dance Beat is styled after the "Queen of MTV" herself, Ms. Spears. The game functions as any rhythm based game, hit the Button on the screen when the timing bar goes over it and you get a 'Great', 'Good' or 'Miss'. This game uses the circle design where the bar goes around in a circle instead of on a consistent line in one direction. Think like a clock and then you'll understand what I mean. The game itself seems to have a very standardized note layout which is an interesting design choice considering that the songs themselves have far more notes in them. Perhaps this a rhythm-lite game? There are three difficulty modes, I tried normal, got whooped as soon as I entered "Concert Mode" and then aced the game on easy. I'm not even attempting hard mode. When you first boot up the game you're stuck playing practice mode, where you play all 5 of the game's songs one at a time. After that you unlock 'concert mode' which is basically the same thing but with a different background. On normal they did add some extra mix-ups for concert mode like directional button pressing and different A/B combinations. Easy mode seemed to omit those directionals for the most part. The songs included in this game are: "Hit me baby one more time", "Oops I did it again", "Stronger", "Overprotected" and "Slave4U". If you clear the game you are actually rewarded with a "video" of one of her concerts. This is where it gets interesting because it clearly shows her with a head-mic on, despite the Mandela Effect crowd saying she never had one. You unlock "posters" and "puzzle games" as well as you play through the game. It seems like beating normal mode and hard unlock one additional poster each. The sound quality isn't the worst I've heard but overall the game is mostly just average at best. You might get some enjoyment out of it, but probably just an hour at best. Credits after you beat concert mode on any difficulty.
All in All, a score of 5.0 for 5 songs. The rhythm was slightly off for some songs. The scoring mechanic is a bit weird and too heavy for normal mode. Changing difficulties resets ALL progress. It's a 1 hour game based on a pop star.
