Dating back at least to "Tetris" on the NES, it is generally requisite for puzzle games to feature brightly colored graphics, and Bonsai Blast's brightly colored balls compliment the game's polished menus, hand-drawn stage visuals, and excellent parchment-adorned notification windows.

Bonsai Blast contains a wonderful selection of mellow, neutral background songs inspired by traditional Japanese music. The sound effects, also clearly inspired by far Eastern customs, are both easy on the ear and memorable.

Bonsai Blast differs from many other puzzle bobble-inspired titles that each stage involves eliminating one or more trains of moving orbs before they reach a set destination. The game's many well-designed stages lend a tower defense aspect to the traditional puzzle bobble formula.

Its relaxed traditional Japanese theme, sharp and aesthetically pleasing stage and menu art, and wonderfully designed stages make for one of the finest puzzle bobble variants ever. There are no shortage of puzzle games on the Android platform, but even in this crowded pack Bonsai Blast manages to stand out.
