BeeeeyyyBlaaaaaadddeeeee. Yeah, you're gonna hear that A LOT in this game. I'm pretty sure the jonas brothers or whatever teenie bop band sung this game's music. BeyBlades is an anime about a bunch of elementary school kids playing with fidget spinners. This is the game adaptation of that. To be truthful though, they devs were smart when they made this game and decided to actually give it some decent gameplay. The game itself is akin to the old marble madness game, or monkey ball. You control a "character" which I'm assuming is the heroes of the anime, and their fidget spinner. Each fidget spinner handles a little bit differently. Max's fidget spinner is like a tank, whereas Tyson's fidget spinner is really floaty. The storyline is told through little cutscenes that resemble an old speed racer episode. The action takes place on an isometric field with many many many pitfalls all around you. Your controls can either be 3D(isometric) or 2D(input controls). I highly suggest using 2D controls. The goal is to beat 7 episodes with 7 rounds in each episode. The action ranges from "reach the goal" to "beat the boss". most of the stages take between 12-20 seconds to actually beat, but if you're like me, you'll be resetting often. The fun of this game is that they made restarting very fast and easy, and there's no downside to losing other than having to retry. There are also collectibles scattered around in the game that you can grab. To unlock special bonus levels, you have to beat the par time of every round in that episode. Don't worry, you don't need to grab all the collectibles AND beat the par time in one effort. You can do them each separately. I've honestly never watched fidgetspinner blades but If the anime was as fun as the game, then I might be interested... I don't think it is though. Fans of marble madness shouldn't sleep on this one. Sometimes the best solution is to go way off course.
Hot Tips: Brave Nonsensical Jumps lead to better Par Time. Beware of Episode 6 Round 5.
All in All, I went with a 7.4 for this game. As a Marble Madness 'clone' it had it's work cutout, but it really falls flat in the storyline department. E6R5 was just dirty. The music was terrible port must from "I'm assuming" the anime. the 3D controls are not good, switch to 2D. Some of the mechanics just aren't explained well. Lots of small things add up to reduce the score.
