Slipknot

The BEST album I have heard ever. Not kidding around about this either, if there is one band I put time into making a page for it is definalty Slipknot. The work is just amazing. Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Percussion, Samples, and Turntables, are all perfectly together. 9 guys from Des Moines, Iowa, who on top of the album, have a live show just as intense. The pit at a Slipknot show will be the wildest place you could ever immerse yourself into. They are the show stealers of the Ozzfest 99’ tour and they are the next big thing. You must see their live show. After having a having a friend tell me of their webpage [slipknot 1] he stumbled upon about a year and a half ago, we had anticipated what exactly Slipknot would bring to the music world... Well, now we know, the anticipation of the album led me to the record store Cheapo for the midnight release of the album. The best move I could have made.

The album itself is unreal, here is why..

You know something is going to happen, but you don’t know what to expect when you put the album in. 35 seconds of a sample overlapped saying, “ I think the whole thing is sick.” Under the voice is feedback of some sort warning you of the assault you are about to receive. “Sic” is a fast-paced violent lyrical attack, backed by intense drums, extra drums being banged on by the 2 other percussionists, and guitars that are brutal... The drum work on this song is amazing. Joey also known as “1” to all the people who know him that way, is up there on my “drummers to play like” list. Almost every song has at least one part I can’t play, and I have been playing for seven years. I guess I have got stuff I need to learn... The guitars aren’t pushover riffs, neither the bass, nor is any instrument for that matter. All the musicians in Slipknot each have their word cut out for them. In other words, "They f'n rock man!!"

"[sic]"“Eyeless” “Wait and Bleed” “Surfacing” and “Spit it Out” have to be the greatest songs in succession of one another on any album I have ever heard. Don’t get me wrong, “Tattered and Torn” is a great song, but it is the first song in that series that is slowed to another pace. "Tattered and Torn" begins what is a new feel to the album. That odd feel is continued by the piece entitled “Frail Limb Nursery.” This is an eerie type tidbit about dying people, it is like it connects “Tattered and Torn” and “Purity” together. Really cool and dark stuff...

The album is loaded with cool ass stuff, top to bottom. Corey the vocalist is quite talented. Sure, he swears/yells/screams in every one of the songs, but he can flow [unhh yeah-iyeah like in "Only One"] and sing as well[ala “Wait and Bleed”and "Purity"}. The album hammers on with such songs as: “Liberate” check out the middle part, very impressive, timing down to the second, and they pulled it off flawlessly at the live show as well. “Prosthetics” “Dilluted” “Only One” [watch out for the titeass flowing in this song!!] “Scissors” and “Eeyore” close out the album. “Eeyore" is incredible. I guess it is like death-metal mixed with some punk and again unmatched drumming. A very good way to close out this cd. I have listened to it so many times.... So, this is what I want you to do. I want you to buy this album. Learn the songs, listen to them all, learn the words, sing along, buy a t-shirt of the band [I already did, I want a hat too.], sing the songs while listening to the album, while wearing your t-shirt.. Then go to their concert, and try to avoid being destroyed to the best of your ability. Sing the songs in the shower, at work, school or recreation. The album of the year..

Note***You could say that this Slipknot album has been in the making for around 4 years. "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat."is actually the demo that got them signed to Roadrunner, but the demo actually had some of the songs that are on this major label debut. Slipknot has gone through some changes over the past 5 or 6 years they have been together, but what they have now is the right formula. My advice, if you ever buy one cd, tape, record or whatever, make it be this album.

Most impressive songs:
1. [sic]
2. surfacing
3. Wait and Bleed
4.Liberate
